Pastel eGIrl: All You Need To Know

It is a fashion aesthetic that combines the elements of the eGirl aesthetic and the soft girl aesthetic. Given its name, one can conclude that the Pastel eGirl is basically just the eGirl aesthetic with a hint of pastel colors instead of just black, and that is actually true. It is basically a cute soft girl aesthetic with some grudge elements and/or vice versa.

Remember that the eGirl aesthetic is the fashion aesthetic that is used by someone who incorporates the grungy and emo elements to their fashion, combined with bizarre makeup elements as part of their internet identity. The aesthetic uses a lot of blacks and whites as its main palette, together with some silver accessories to style, and; the soft girl aesthetic is a fashion style popular among some young women on social media, based on a deliberately cutesy, feminine look. It often features pink and yellow colors, floral and heart patterns, oversized sweaters and plaid skirts, and heavy blush makeup. Being a soft girl also may involve a tender, sweet, vulnerable personality.

Together, combining these two fashion aesthetics, the pastel eGirl is created. You can say that the Pastel eGirl is another form of the kawaii aesthetic as it has a lot of kawaii elements to it as well. The pastel colored clothing and hairstyles are two examples of such elements (think that the soft girl aesthetic itself has a lot of similarities to the kawaii aesthetic, except that the kawaii aesthetic does not only consist of the soft girl aesthetic).

The Pastel eGirl can also be called the Pastel Goth aesthetic by many since the eGirl aesthetic and the Goth aesthetic have a lot in common, however, depending on the use of the aesthetic, both aesthetic can also be different, but in most cases, they are used interchangeably.

What comprises a Pastel eGirl?

Pastel Colored Hair or Wigs

Just like with the eGirl aesthetic where the users of the aesthetic make use of different hairstyles for almost every #OOTD that they can do, whether they use wigs or color their hair, the same thing goes for the Pastel eGirls. The only difference here is that the Pastel eGirls would only use pastel-color palettes for their hairstyles. Except probably for their own natural hair colors, the pastel e-girls would always wear hairstyles with pastel colors on it.

Makeup that reminds of either the e-girl or soft girl aesthetic

The makeup style of the Pastel e-girl varies depending on what the user wants their style to be, but a balance between both aesthetics must be realized not only on the clothes that they wear, but also with the makeup that they apply on. 

If the user chooses to wear heavy makeup that most likely leans to the egirl makeup with heavy eye makeup that consists of heavy eyeliner and/or heavy lashes, and also heavy colored eye-shadows, the rest of the fashion must be minimal in the dark elements and more on the colorful elements. The same goes if the makeup leans more into the soft girl aesthetic makeup where there are lighter colors and lighter styles of makeup, then the rest of the fashion must be more on the dark elements with added touch of the pastel colors as pops of colors.

Colorful Hair Accessories

Just like on the norms of the soft girl and eGirl aesthetic, you can never miss on some cute hair accessories. I am talking about those small colorful accessories that almost reminds you of your childhood that you styled your hair with back when you were a kid. If you think this is weird, don’t be! These accessories make up the aesthetic especially when you use the pastel colored ones in contrast to the dark, black tones that the majority of your fashion constitutes. You can also do the other way around by using black hair accessories with your colorful dresses, and most especially if you are having your hair colored with nice pastels! Those black accessories will surely look cute!

eGirl Body Accessories - choker necklaces, belts, etc.

The eGirl aesthetic is know for its edgy accessories. They also like their choker necklaces that is the most distinguishing item that they use on their necks as a common accessory. The Pastel eGirl is of no exception as they are also open to use accessories such as this. Also, just as the eGirls love using different types of silver accessories, the Pastel eGirl can also do the same. Necklaces, rings, bracelets in silver, name it! This is also to create the edgy appeal that the eGirl is known for. After all, the Pastel eGirl is still an eGirl, only in a different font. Chain designs for body accessories, are also acceptable as well. But ofcourse, in order to keep and create a balance of the accessories, it is also recommended to keep other accessories such as body bags or purses in the pastel colors to keep the Pastel-thing of this aesthetic going. Must not forget that!

Tops that either egirl or soft girl aesthetic inspired

One thing enjoyable about the Pastel eGirl aesthetic is that you can get the best of both worlds of the eGirl and the soft girl. Experimenting on different tops that suits your style for the day? the pastel eGirl aesthetic gotchu!

Planning on going emo for your top? You can do so and go for a pure black tee. After all, you can focus on experimenting on your other aspects such as your hair accessories and well, the body accessories as well! Feeling cute and want to try something colorful? Go ahead and sport a pastel crop top over your black tee! There are various ways to enjoy the pastel eGirl aesthetic simply by styling your tops with it. You just need to simply be creative in your ways, and maybe you can even discover some interesting combos that you weren’t expecting even!

The same goes for bottoms

I mean yeah, if you can go an experiment with your tops, you can as well experiment when it comes to your bottoms!

Felt cute? Go ahead and wear some plaid, pastel skirt! Pair this up with your black tee and with a cute pastel bag, and boom, you have a simple fit for your aesthetic! There are no exact limitations when it comes to wearing your chosen pair of bottoms. If you want to wear pants, go black or go colorful, it doesn't really matter, just as long as the palette of your fashion goes well with the Pastel eGirl aesthetic, what’s there to limit yourself with, right?

But it is recommended that you refrain from using a pair of jeans unless you plan on wearing some distressed mom jeans that peep some skin for another accessory (which will be discussed in the next bullet!). Also, a pair of black pants is also nice to go with if you are having a pastel-colored top!

Legwear: distressed stockings and/or fishnets, thigh high socks

For when wearing distressed jeans, there’s nothing better than pairing it with some fishnets below it, right? Especially when you are serious about this aesthetic and you also have a lot of fishnets under your closet, or even some black stockings, that’s a good start to try! But don’t fret and think that these are just for the distressed boyfriend jeans as these are also a staple for when you wear skirts, as well! Fishnets are a good item to have for when sporting the eGirl aesthetic and here in the Pastel eGirl aesthetic, it is even better as you can go ahead and play around with different colors of the said items.

Shoes - platforms? Doll shoes? Boots?

Most Pastel eGirls are found wearing a lot of dolls shoes and some cute platform shoes. These can be in the colors pastel blue, pastel pink - anything almost that reminds you of someone dressing up like a doll. These types of shoes are not only cute and pleasing to the eyes, they also add in some weight to the wearer which gives them additional inches of height (yey to us shorties!). The pastel eGirls are also found wearing some boots that suit the style that they are going for. 

While the aesthetic pays much attention to the pretty colors and styles of these above mentioned shoes, you rarely actually see sneakers being worn by the wearers. Sneakers are not that bad, after all, the eGirls wear a lot of Vans as stated from our eGirl article. But since this aesthetic is combined together with the soft girl aesthetic, the aesthetic should not only be filled with grudge, it also has to be colored with some sparkles.
