1. Choosing your Aesthetic

Of course you need to know what kind of aesthetics you're going for. There are different types out there and all you have to do is choose the one that you think you're most comfortable with or what defines you the most. Here are some Aesthetic types that you can choose and a brief description of each.

Art mom - Those who are very artsy, hippie vibe aesthetic, typically wearing mom jeans, are into flowers and plants and in nature in general.

Baddie - This one is about wearing heavy makeup (with eyeliner and eyebrows always on fleek) accompanied by street style clothing. 

Kawaii/pastel - Everything is pastel and cute in nature, the colors stay on the same color scheme (pink, pastel purple, sky blue, etc.) and everything is adorned with cute things and prints like strawberries, Hello Kitty, Sailor Moon and others.

Grunge - This one is more on everything darker and edgier, makes you think of band shirts, vinyl records, denim jackets, dark makeup, nose piercings and so on.

VSCO - Directly based of the VSCO editing app, this makes you think about beachy, chill vibes, Kanken backpack, oversized shirts, tie dye, scrunchies, Arizona sandals.

It's important to know what color scheme you would go with. You have to make sure that once you've chosen your color palette, you'll stick with it no matter what happens.

3. Clothing

Your wardrobe upgrade depends on the aesthetic style that you chose from the types above. The best tip we have for you when you start preparing for your new aesthetic collection is to shop at any thrift store, this will be a budget friendly way (considering you'll be having one hell of an upgrade) to start plus you'll get a lot of fashion items that are vintage and timeless. You can start off by getting plain black and white shirts because you can pair them up with anything and they go with any of the aesthetic types listed above. Printed shirts are very common for this as well, and the colors and designs still depends of what your aesthetic type is. For example, you can go for statement or graphic tees if you chose to be grunge, or something pastel colored with cartoon characters if you're kawaii. Shirts can be paired with flannel shits, pull over or long sleeves underneath.

Sweaters is also a must have for your closet, there are different types and design but usually the oversized ones wins the aesthetic movement. You can go for the plain ones up to anything with patterns (stripes is the most widely used one).

4. Bottoms

As for the bottoms, they usually wear mom jeans that are either plain or ripped, and most of the time they cuff the bottom of it. Skirts and shorts are also options as long as they fit the vintage category. Belts is also added to the list but this is not just to keep your pants in place, belts are considered an accessory for this movement so keep that in mind to choose the best looking ones.

5. Shoes

Footwear is very easy,  all you need are white sneakers and black boots and you're done. If you want to add more variety for the shoes, go ahead, as long as they go with your overall aesthetics. As for the accessories, layered necklaces and bracelets is the best for this look, keep the accessories as simple but pleasing as you can. 

6. Skincare

Keeping your skin clean, fresh and healthy is a must, there's nothing so aesthetic than clear skin. It can be hard, specially if you have some skin conditions like acne or something else but you better believe in yourself that you can improve them, remember that you shouldn't be too hard on yourself. Be confident and choose products that would work to improve your skin condition, like cleansers, moisturizers, sun screen, etc.

7. Makeup

As for makeup, you can just wear something that would go along with the style that you chose, if you're into grunge, then you would obviously wear dark makeup, with heavy eyeliner, false lashes and red lipstick. If you're into the much lighter side of things, simple and minimal makeup would do the trick. You can just do what you typically do on your makeup before all the aesthetic transformations. Some people do more elaborate makeup looks like hearts or flowers under their eyes or some little bedazzling, but it's still up to you if you want to follow the trend or just keep it simple.

8. Hair care

Aesthetic hair is not just about styling it beautifully, it's also about taking care of it so it will always look smooth, silky, shiny and overall healthy. Use the best hair care products that would suit you best.

9. Hairstyles

About the styles, you can always go for French braids, high ponytails, messy buns or just put your hair down. Some can also do some double buns, beach waves, and for short hair, you wear some curls or keep it straight. You can also consider getting hair dye using light colors, like chestnut brown, or even more bolder colors like grey or pink.

You can always add some hair accessories up, and that includes some scrunchies that would either go with your hair or your wrist (yes, they do that). Some hair clips, pins or hairbands with butterfly and flower designs would be also perfect. Flower crowns and hair scarves can also be considered depending on the look.

10. Your space

Aesthetics doesn't really limit itself to just your physical appearance, it includes your personal space as well (bedroom or even your whole apartment). First thing you need to remember to transform your place or bedroom is to keep it clean and clutter free, because seriously, what's more pleasing to the eye than a tidy space? Next you can try to keep everything minimal as you can, and you had a color scheme that you're sticking with on your physical looks, keep that and apply the same thing to your bedroom.
