In 2015, JYP Entertainment, an entertainment and record label, and MNET, a television music channel, created a survival show that pitted 16 JYP trainees, showing off their skills, talent, charms, and personality to secure a spot on JYP’s new girl group. By the end of the survival show, 9 trainees were chosen to debut with the group name of Twice.
They debuted the same year, on October 20, 2015, and rose to popularity when their single Cheer Up dominated not only the charts but the hearts of the general population as well. And if you are familiar with the KPop, I am pretty sure you’ve at least heard once or twice, maybe even a bazillion times, the iconic “Shy shy shy” of this song.
Now, 5 years later, they are way passed their rookie year and has become a globally known music act.
With their rising popularity, we’ve seen them glam up on stage in all their glitz and glamour self. But like all other KPop idols, these girls have their casual days too. And if you are wondering about their casual fashion style, then keep on reading because, in this article, we are going to discuss how to dress like all Twice members!
Im Nayeon
Im Nayeon is the oldest member, born in 1995, of Twice and is the lead vocal and the center of the group. Unlike on stage where is also seen with very flattering outfits, Nayeon is a very casual dresser on her day-offs.
To copy her look, for days where you don’t feel all cheery or you might have a sudden infatuation for dark colors, a black crop top and black sweatpants should do the trick. Keep your belongings with a small and simple leather bag and for that extra “I’m not in the mood”, spice the look with a black hat.
Next, bare the legs but cover the top with a simple blazer or cardigan. Or you can cover all up with baggy pants and a long sleeve top with a twist. Make it crop, showing a little bit of skin.
Yoo Jeongyeon
Yoo Jeongyeon, born in 1996, is the second oldest member of Twice and is the lead vocalist. She is also the second tallest member. Jeongyeon has a few ranges to her fashion style. On one end, she could go rocker chic and on the other, go full-blown feminine.
To get her look, grab your black shirt and shorts. Not all might not have a faux leather jacket but if you happen to find one at a reasonable price or maybe even at the thrift store, it is a good piece that can spice up a look. For the shoes, what could be trendier than mesh socks and combat boots?
For a softer look, an oversized sweatshirt underneath a jumpsuit is a very comfortable outfit for lazy days. If you’re feeling a bit feminine, plaid short skirts have been on-trend. A simple shirt would do but make sure to tuck it in to cinch your waist. And of course, not once did white shoes ever went out of style. So it’s good to keep a pair with you all throughout the year.
Hirai Momo
Hirai Momo, one of the Japanese member and also born in 1996, just a few days younger than Jeongyeon, is the group’s main dancer. Being the main dancer of a worldwide famous music group means that Momo has one of the best body lines, all proportioned and curves at the right places.
To get her look, grab your favorite pair of mom jeans and a cropped sleeveless top. I personally love this look. It’s very casual and chic at the same time and is perfect for both day and night casual outing. It can be worn to the mall, to the park, and to dinner with friends and family.
If you’re a lover of bodycon outfits, then it will be worth to try Momo’s next outfit. A grey bodycon outfit and a long knitted overcoat is good for days where you are feeling yourself. The next outfit is a crowd favorite. A halter top tucked in high-waisted shorts and a patterned cover-up is one of the best go-to outfits you can hastily put on and will still look fabulous.
Minatozaki Sana
Minatozaki Sana, another member of Twice’s Japanese-line and is the singer behind the iconic “Shy shy shy” which threw the whole of South Korea in an LSS frenzy for at least a year. She’s the fourth oldest member, also born in 1996, a few months younger than Jeongyeon and Momo.
Sana is one of the members that have an amazing stage presence and seems to fit both the cute and sexy concept.
To get her first look, you don’t need to look far and wide. This is also everyone’s favorite outfit. Ripped jeans and a white shirt. I remember the days where everyone was so infatuated with ripped jeans and Sana is no different. You can easily pull this look right out of your own closet.
Lazy but still wants to look preppy? Try a matching hot pink sweatsuit and unzipped the upperwear to reveal a white tube top. It’s amazingly effortless and looks like you just came out from a sports magazine.
Another in-trend fashion item is a thigh-high boot. It looks perfect with shorts or in Sana’s case, which I know you can definitely pull of as well, an oversized pull-over.
Park Ji Hyo
Park Ji Hyo may not be the oldest member but she is the pillar of the group, their leader. And she also trained the longest out of them all, a total of 10 years and it shows! She’s a great singer, proven by her position as the main vocalist, and the recent years, she’s been turning heads with her dancing skills as well. She’s born in 1997, making her the fifth oldest member.
Ji Hyo fashion style is a mixture of cozy and I’m the IT girl vibe.
To get one of her looks, grab an oversized button-up and a short denim skirt. These pieces are often a staple for every girl’s wardrobe and is perfect for a day out in the park. Pair it with a comfy pair of strappy sandals, then you are good for a day to night outing.
For a more cozy look, nothing beats a baggy but stylish outfit. Grab a comfy and baggy slack pant and pair it with a simple top. To vamp up the look, you can never go wrong with a lapel-collared blazer and top it all with a newsboy hat.
For a more feminine look on days you’re feeling cheery, a tank top and a simple jean is not a bad choice either. It’s a simple outfit but one you can hastily put on and style. It’s perfect for days when you are grabbing brunch with friends or maybe even a quick stop at the mall.
Myoui Mina
Who would have thought a girl that learned ballet for 11 years would suddenly take a complete shift to pop dances? But then again, this is KPop where everyone is unique in their own way. Myoui Mina is one of those unique individuals. Even though she mainly dances to pop songs now because of her debut to Twice, the elegance she had for dancing ballet for 11 years is still prominent. She still has a certain elegant touch to her feet even when dancing to the preppiest songs. She’s born in 1997, a month after Jihyo, and is the sixth oldest member.
Now, Mina has quite a reputation when it comes to dressing up. Stan Twitter would often describe her as “expensive.” Not because she wears branded clothes head to toe but mainly because, everything she wears, even the most casual of all outfits, would look extremely expensive on her. I have a feeling it’s the way she carries herself and her elegance that makes it seems so.
To grab her look, scour around for that oversized knitted sweater and a midi denim skirt, preferably high-waisted. Tuck the sweater in and you’re already looking like a rich heir from Korean dramas.
A simple outfit that Mina wore that everyone can definitely pull off is a very famous fashion trend in Korea and is slowly being embraced around the world. It’s the dress-over-shirt outfit. If you have quite a provocative dress that you can’t wear out, trying wearing a simple white shirt underneath and you’re ready to go for a casual day night.
If you’re off to look a bit expensive, try this outfit that Mina wore. It doesn’t need to be branded clothes, in fact, I can assure you that this outfit is something you can pull out of your closet or have one in the mall at a reasonable price. A turtleneck paired with slightly-ripped jeans and strappy sandals. What really finished this outfit is the plaid overcoat. This really gave a model from Burberry vibe.
Kim Da Hyun
Now, we are venturing into the maknae (youngest) line of Twice and endearingly named by the fans as School Meal Club. Starting off with Kim Da Hyun, also nicknamed “Tofu” because of her incredibly fair skin. She was born in 1998 and is the oldest of the maknae line. In simple terms, she’s the seventh oldest member of the group.
Da Hyun is born for variety shows. She has a very good sense of humor and is absolutely a crowd-favorite. She’s also the most popular candidate back in her Sixteen days and even during her debut.
To grab one of her looks, you might be embodying Cher from Clueless with this first one. An oversized yellow and black plaid button-up, topped with an oversized mustard yellow knitted cardigan. It’s quite a bright outfit and you’ll probably be spotted a mile away but who cares? If you’re feeling cheery and wants to wear bright colors for the whole day, go ahead and try this Clueless-inspired outfit.
For a touch of elegance, a floral puff-sleeved blouse is a good piece to wear. If you’re going for a more casual look, you can definitely pair it with high-waisted denim jeans.
For a comfier and child-like appeal, definitely go for a jumpsuit. It’s easy to wear and there’s not much styling to do. It’s also something you can pull out of the closet and wear on the go.
Son Chae Young
The second member of the School Meal Club is the petite but fierce-looking Son Chae Young. She is the group’s main rapper, with her talent in rapping being incredibly noticeable during her Sixteen days. She was, undeniably, one of the strongest contenders. She is quite on the shorter side when it comes to height, as she is believed to be not more than 162 cm long, but don’t be fooled! Her charisma and stage presence definitely filled in what her height lacked. Despite that though, she is adorable and is well-loved by her members.
Her fashions style can vary from a cute high schooler to a rock-style chic.
To grab one of her looks, an oversized button-up and short high-waisted shorts seem to be a never-ending trend with these girls. I understand that though, as this is easily one of the outfits you can put and style on with your eyes closed.
Next, for a bit of rocker girl look, a graphic tee is one of the best ways to go. Pairing it with baggy slacks pants and a plain blazer even out the design of your shirt. The third outfit gives out a bit more of a mature side. A sheer button-up, with the undergarment peeking through just a bit is enough to give that “I’m a grown-up” vibe. What’s even more perfect is unexpectedly pairing it with your trusty boots.
Chou Tzuyu
And we are at the end of the list! Chou Tzuyu is the last member of the School Meal Club and the youngest of the group. But despite being the youngest, she is also the tallest member, with a fantastic height of 170cm. Her height alone gives her the model vibe and to pair it more with her beautiful face, Tzuyu is the perfect package.
Because of her tall physique, everything Tzuyu seems to wear absolutely suits her. To grab one of her look, a yellow top tucked in a short denim skirt is one of the easiest you can follow. Top it off with a light-colored denim jacket to give the outfit an extra flair. Don’t forget to style your hair up in that princess hairdo too! (Refer to the picture above)
Next, is definitely something that is literally effortless and just gives you that I just woke up aura. A long oversized button-up and that’s it. It’s a frustratingly simple outfit but Tzuyu pulled it off and make it looked like a runway. But I am sure you can too!
Next look to grab from Tzuyu is a combination of comfy and trendy. Grab your favorite pair of mom jeans and white converse and topped it off with of peter pan collared button-up.
